Key Takeaways
- Evernorth will deploy its 473M XRP treasury with Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and Bitgo from Q4 2026.
- The strategy shifts XRP from passive reserves toward yield and onchain credit as XRPL DeFi matures.
- Success will depend on whether active deployment can lift XRP per share without adding outsized risk.
Nasdaq-Listed Evernorth Activates 473M XRP Treasury
Evernorth is wasting little time turning its massive XRP balance sheet into an active investment strategy.
The Nasdaq-listed digital asset treasury company has named Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and Bitgo as its first institutional execution partners. Beginning this quarter, Evernorth plans to use those firms to both accumulate XRP and deploy portions of its 473 million XRP treasury—currently valued near $639 million—into institutional strategies.
The announcement comes days after Evernorth’s public-market debut and coincides with the company ringing the Nasdaq closing bell on Oct. 14.
The bigger story is what happens to the XRP.
Evernorth Wants XRP to Generate More XRP
Most crypto treasury companies are judged by how much of an asset they accumulate. Evernorth is trying to add another metric: productivity. CEO Asheesh Birla said:
We’re putting our treasury to work. That is how we grow XRP per share over time.
The company selected its partners based on institutional infrastructure, licensing, capitalization, and experience serving asset managers and public companies. For shareholders, the strategy is designed to generate returns from XRP without abandoning the underlying treasury thesis.
It also creates a clearer distinction between Evernorth and companies whose digital-asset strategy consists largely of buying and holding tokens.
Onchain XRP Lending Is the Next Phase
Deployment will begin conservatively. Evernorth said its first phase will use strategies already available through established institutional counterparties, with oversight from its investment and risk team.
Later, the company wants to move capital directly onto the XRP Ledger. As native lending and onchain credit markets are activated by validators and prove themselves in production, Evernorth plans to introduce DeFi strategies using treasury XRP.
That could make the company one of the more important institutional liquidity providers in XRP-native credit markets if those markets gain adoption.
Former Coinbase Executive Leads the Strategy
The program is being overseen by Evernorth Chief Investment Officer Hugo Jeandesboz, who was appointed in September.
Jeandesboz joined from Coinbase Asset Management, where he was co-CIO and led Solutions strategies. His background also includes more than a decade across digital assets and fixed income at firms including HSBC and Société Générale.
“The question for any treasury is not whether it can hold an asset, but whether it can manage one,” he said.
Evernorth’s shares began trading on Nasdaq under XRPN following its combination with Armada Acquisition Corp. II.
For the crypto treasury sector, the development is significant. Evernorth is testing whether a public company can turn a large token reserve from a passive balance-sheet asset into an actively managed source of returns.
